-History/Science: Pre-Mortal Life and The Creation
   Lesson Plan:
We're going to start History at the very beginning.  Actually, we're going to start before the beginning.
*Where did our spirits live before we were born? (With God)
*What was God's plan for the spirit children He had created?  This is sometimes called "The Plan of Salvation." (List the following on the board as the kids give the answers.  Help them fill in the blanks)
-Create a world we could live on
          -Give us physical bodies
-Give us the chance to chose right from wrong
-Allow us to become like Him through keeping the commandments
-Provide a Savior to overcome our sins and physical death.  Through Jesus we can repent and be       resurrected and receive an immortal and perfect body like our Father's.
*Can Sam do what Dad does physically and mentally?
*What changes would have to happen for Sam to become as smart and strong as Dad?
*What are some of Heavenly Father's characteristics?  What is He like?
*What changes would have to happen to us to make us like our Heavenly Father? (immortal and perfected body, perfect righteousness, all knowing, all loving, perfect understanding of science and the power of the priesthood.)

Heavenly Father wants us to become like He is.  He wants us to be powerful and happy and smart.  So He put "The Plan of Salvation" into action!  He did that by creating the Earth so we'd have a place to gain a physical body and to be tested so we could learn to chose right instead of wrong.

Watch Elder Nelson's video on The Creation:The Creation Video

Let's read about the Creation: Genesis 1,
*How long did it take to create the Earth? (The scriptures talk about days, but if you remember in the video, the word for day can also mean "time," "period," or "age.")
*So do you think the Earth was created in the same amount of time as 6 days for us?
We don't know for sure, but it probably took a really long time in Earth years to make the world ready for Adam and Eve.  Heavenly Father doesn't measure time the way we do. We probably won't know exactly how long until we are like our Heavenly Father and can try it out for ourselves.
*What are some interesting things we could study that happened during the creation before Adam and Eve were on the Earth? (Space, Astronomy, Dinosaurs, Prehistoric animals and plant life, etc.)
*Did God create the Earth using magic?  What power did He use to create the Earth? (The priesthood and the power of knowledge-His perfect knowledge of chemistry, biology, mathematics, etc.)
He planned everything out really carefully, creating things spiritually before He made them physically.  Then he "organized" the Earth from materials that already existed called "matter."  But we can talk more about that another time.

Let's talk about the difference between magic vs. science.
*What would ancient person think if they saw an airplane?  Skype?  iPhone?
*Would it look like magic to them?  (Yes) But is it magic? (No, it's science)

Heavenly Father's creation of the world is so beautiful that it feels like magic.  Wouldn't you love to be so all knowing and so powerful that you could create a world of your own?!

*When you look around at the planet that Heavenly Father made for us, what are you most grateful for?

Introduce History Timeline on wall.  Color Creation Pictures, review order of "days", place them appropriately at the beginning of the timeline. (Print extra copies of pictures for Sam to color during lesson.)

-Science--Zoology, Classifying Animals
Lesson Plan:
Heavenly Father has made so many amazing animals.  So let's study them!
